Thomas Dunn: Since graduating from the University of Akron (BA English/Philosophy '93), I have squandered my youth on sundry pilgrimage through paradise and ravaged exotic lands, searching for the American dream. Afflicted with a chronic case of wanderlust, I abbreviated my graduate studies at Indiana University to return to Ohio before migrating south to Atlanta, Jacksonville, and the whirlwind of New Orleans. Excess got the upper hand, at which time I retreated to the north. The virus of fiction took me down. Somehow, the remnants of accidental contact resulted in the memories to write what I saw, scratching out a novel between stints as a computer consultant until last year when a company for which I worked was acquired. The resultant monies were stipend enough to permit me wonder and reflection, vast travels and time, to quit work and move closer to the eye of the hurricane, the bayou where I split time between my fair lady Elizabeth, her two sons Xia and Sabastian, our expected daughter Echo (due in early March), the bar and the venom, the paper, the pen.

Since 1/2/01, a few things have changed in Tom's life. He's now living in Delaware, Ohio with his daughter, Echo, who will be 3 in Feb. 2004. He is writing for Pearson Education in Columbus as well as various websites and magazines. The completed his first novel (that is not yet published) and he's working on his second. He has been able to extensively travel throughout North America with articles/editorials out of Las Vegas, New Orleans, Atlanta, and good ol' Ohio. Tom's email address is: tdunn4@columbus.rr.com.

Jenni (Gaston) Hypes graduated from OSU in 1994 with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She is currently employed by River Valley as the District Technology Coordinator. As a tech. coordinator, she is involved in purchasing hardware and software for the district and troubleshooting and maintaining the equipment. She also helps to develop technology-related staff development for River Valley and creates and maintains the River Valley District web pages. Jenni was married in 2000 to Tom Hypes of Columbus. Tom and Jenni opened The Shepherd's Nook, a Christian bookstore, in Marion in May, 2002 and are started The Shepherd's Fellowship, a contemporary, non-denominational church in the Marion area in February 2004. They live in Waldo, Ohio. She can be reached at: jhypes@rvk12.org

Dave Goerlich graduated from Grove City College (www.gcc.edu) in May '94 with a BS in Computer Systems/Business Administration/Industrial Management. In June, 1996 Dave married Lynne, his college sweetheart, after her graduation from GCC. Lynne was a music major and now teaches private piano lessons. They are living in North Olmsted, Ohio. Their daughter Samantha was born in June 2005. After working in the IT industry both in-house and as a consultant for 12 years, Dave joined a long time friend as a full partner in Designing Interactive (www.designinginteractive.com), a web development and consulting business, fulfilling his biggest career goal of self employment. The whole family is quite involved in their church, Harvest Ridge Assembly of God (www.harvestridge.net). Lynne plays keyboard and sings on the worship team, Dave has taken the volunteer position as the Media Ministry Director, and Samantha is an active member of the nursery. While there isn't much of it, when Dave does get some spare time you can find him in the garage, working to finish the restoration of his 1971 Plymouth Road Runner. Dave does try to get back to Marion when the alumni band marches, at least as much as his schedule allows. You can reach him via email at: bbeep71@ix.netcom.com or dgoerlich@designinginteractive.com

Christie (Leffler) Bell
: I graduated from the University of Akron in 1995 with a major in Graphic Design. It was at an intramural flag football game that I first laid eyes on my future husband, Tony. About 4 years later, we began dating and got engaged after only 2 months! Not only do I not have 2 great stepchildren, Joshua, 13, and Kassie, 9, but our little baby girrl, Macie Marie was born October 26, 2000. We live in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and I am an Art Director at Malone Advertising in Akron.

I missed out on our class reunion, but would love to see some friends from back in the day! I visit Marion quite often to see my family, but haven't had much luck running into anybody. Where does everyone in Marion hang out these days, anyway? Miss you guys! I can be reached at christieb@malonead.com.

Jeff Petry - I graduated from Oberlin College with a BA in Economics and Environmental Studies in 1990. I then went west and earned a MS in economics, with a minor in Environmental Science, at the University of Wyoming. I am now living in Eugene, Oregon with my wife Jossi. We got tired of the traffic and hectic lifestyle of Philadelphia and needed a change. We now are in a medium sized city that is an hour away from the Pacific Ocean and Cascade Mountains. Work keeps us busy during the week, but we spend a lot of our free time in the outdoors. We even joined a local rowing club and have become avid crew members. I can be contacted at bucknhawk@comcast.net.

Matt Sims graduated from The Master's college (Santa Clarita, CA) in 94 with a History Major and like all wise history majors he said to himself "Self, what can you possibly do with a history major?" After that introspection he went out and found a job in the airline industry (he was not a flight attendant). In his last year of college he had found himself the love of his life. Unfortunately for his family and college friends she was from even further away.... Alaska. When she was finished with college she returned home and he packed up his life, bought a dog sled and is now living in the Great White North. He is currently selling telecommunications equipment for a local company in Anchorage. His wife, Aimee, is a second grade teacher for the Anchorage School District. They currently have no children because twenty second graders is the best form of birth control available. Matt and Aimee can be reached at: (907) 258-1352. Their address is: 1556 G. Street, Anchorage, AK 99501. Matt can be reached via email at: simsx2@gci.net

After graduation from RV, I completed a BA in International Studies and an MA in Linguistics at Ohio University in 1995, taught at the university for a while, then spent two years overseas working at a camping shop in London and teaching English in Taiwan. I came back in 1997 to do pre-med work at OU, where I met my husband Keith Wilde, an artist and Kenyon grad. We got married in May 2001, and just welcomed our first child, Reuben James Walter-Wilde, on November 14, 2002. (Stacey's email address is: slw16+@pitt.edu

Class of 1991

Reunion Organizer: unknown

Jeff Azaroff: After graduating in 1991, I joined the Marines. I went to bootcamp at Parris Island, SC; then to NC; Okinawa for a year; South Korea for one month during my time in Okinawa; and spent the remainder of my 4 years at Camp Pendleton, CA. After the Marines, I started working at the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center and did so for about 4 1/2 years. I then went to work at the new jail in Marion (back in 1999 or 2000) and it was horrible. Luckily, I was offered a supervisory position back at the detention center and took it. All the while, since getting out of the Marines, I have attending school at OSU, pretty much off and on. I have 5 more classes in order to get my Bachelor's in Criminology. After working as a supervisor in detention for about a year, I decided that I really wanted to be a juvenile probation officer. I sent many resumes and got lucky. I am currently working for the Hancock County Juvenile Court in Findlay, OH. I really enjoy my job and have been here for the last 6 plus years. I met my beautiful wife, Claudia, in 2003. We dated for nearly a year and then got engaged. We were married on 9/17/05. We are expecting our first child (a boy) in October of 2007. I hope that this message finds everyone healthy and happy. I can be reached at fuzzymunky4@aol.com.

Rob Bowers: I graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1995 with a major in Accounting and a minor in Economics Management. I often saw fellow RV graduates Brad Gerfen, Tom Hering and Shannon McGuire on campus as they also attending Ohio Wesleyan. I am currently employed at AHP (formerly Drypers) in Marion as the Plant Accountant. I married (for the second time - woops) on April 8, 2000. I have a 5 year-old daughter and two stepdaughters ages 7 and 11. I can be reached at dr.bowers@earthlink.net.

Craig Reinwald: After graduation I attended the University of Toledo before joining the U.S. Air Force. I served from 1993-1999 training drug and bomb detection dogs in several different countries. Today, I work for Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan as a material planning analyst. I'm married with two daughters, Avery and Katherine, and spend most of my time with them on the softball fields. I can be emailed at creinwal@ford.com.

Arthur VanVoorhis: I graduated from The Ohio State University in 1995 with a degree in Civil Engineering and I am currently employed with a miscellaneous steel company located in Delaware, Ohio. I have a daughter, Brittani, who is currently 6 years old. I was recently married on February 14, 2005. Sports are still a large part of my life with basketball, volleyball, and softball leading the way. And, remember the HAWK will forever soar in the hearts of whom he has enchanted. I can be reached at hawk32@msn.com.

Reunion Organizer: Michelle (Petry) Rawlins

Tracie (Bender) Mavrogianis: Yes, I am one of the Bender twins and I am doing absolutely wonderful. I am very happily married and currently live in Warren, Ohio where I am a Human Resources Manager at AVI FOODSYSTEMS, Inc. AVI is the largest independently owned food service company in the United States. We provide dining as well as vending machine service for all the large corporations throughout the nation.

After graduating from RVHS, I went on to Youngstown State University where I played four years of volleyball, on a full-ride athletic scholarship -- which I truly owe all to Coach Mullins and RVHS -- and I majored in Speech Communications with an emphasis in Organizational Communications (Human Resources). I started working for AVI my senior year and have been there since. This is where I met my wonderful husband, Nick. With gaining Nick, I have also gained a wonderful daughter who is 9 years old, named Sofia. She is a remarkable little girl. She smiles almost as much as I do.

I try to make it back to Marion often to visit my family. I try to also keep in touch with all of my high school buddies. We try to get together during the highlights of our lives, weddings, baptisms, showers, etc. Please keep me updated on all the events going on with River Valley. I am really interested in everything that is going on. Take care and I hope to hear from you and everyone else soon. You can email me at: traciemav@aol.com.

Jake Cvetan: I am happy to report I finally found some who thinks I am worth being married to. I am a month and a few days from my 35th birthday, as a present to myself I quit the Marion General Emergency Room and now only work one job and teach occasionally. About a year and a half ago I bought my first house in Marion across from the New Harding High School. I can tell you this much, home ownership is like having another job... always something to fix or remodel. So who is heading up the 15 yr reunion, been that long hard to imagine. I can be reached through email at: engine112@hotmail.com. God Bless America. To Darrin Keirns: Your memory will never be lost or forgotten. Rest in Peace.

He began Law School at The Ohio State University in 1997 and he is graduating in May 2000. Sheila (Collins) Plant: I graduated with a double major in zoology and psychology from Miami University in May 1998. In June, I married a fellow "Redskin" in a beautiful outdoor wedding in the formal gardens of the Miami University campus. My husband and I moved to North Carolina where I have been working towards my PhD in Neurobiology at the University of North Carolina. As a grad student, I obviously make little to no $$$ but am supported by my husband, a computer network engineer in the Research Triangle Park. We absolutely love the NC weather and welcome visitors to this gorgeous area, especially in the spring. All of our "spare" time is currently consumed by our two Australian Shepherds. I can be reached at srplant@med.unc.edu.

Jennifer Dickson: Upon graduating from RVHS, I attended Bowling Green State University. I graduated with my B.S. in Education in 1997. I had the ubiquitous Gen-X experience to live at home after graduation. During that time I worked at St. Mary Grade School, teaching 4th grade. In 1999, I moved to the Toledo area and returned to the university. After one year in northwest Ohio, I crossed the border, accepting a kindergarten teaching position in Dearborn, Michigan. I currently teach 3rd grade in Detroit Public Schools. In January, I finally become a true blue Michigan Wolverine when I begin work on my Master's degree at the University of Michigan. Go Blue!

Scott Kirkton: I discovered a passion for studying biology while doing research on damselfly behavior at Denison University. After graduation, I started working on my Ph.D. in the biology department at Arizona State University. My current work focuses on how absolute insect body size might be limited by their respiratory system. I should finish in about a year and plan to become a professor. As Mr. Jones correctly predicted, my political views are much more liberal now than in high school. In fact, the only political issues that currently motivate me are protecting the environment and keeping evolution in the public school curriculum. Although I miss Ohio (especially the seasons), I have really enjoyed getting to see the West through backpacking trips. A few years ago, I married my college sweetheart who works as a forensic chemist in the local police department. My email address is: kirkton@asu.edu

Tobin (Toby) Lovell: I graduated from OU in 1997 with a double major in political science and psychology. I am presently employed as a psychologist at the Counseling and Career Development Center at Georgia Southern University. I would love to keep in contact with my classmates and can be reached at: tlovell@gasou.edu. If you're ever down south, stop on by!

Kezhong "Ed" Zhao
- As you can see from my last name, I immigrated from China and I was the only Chinese in RV at my time there. Because of the language difference and lack of time to study English, I was a zero to my classmates and I felt indebt to them not to express myself. I was voted the quietest boy when I graduated. The main reason was that I was afraid of speaking because I didn't speak well. Even though I still don't speak well, I understand life better.

I am currently a graduate student in OSU, majoring in electrical engineering and as a graduate research associate in electroscience lab, one of the world-wide known labs in the electromagnetic community. In there I feel I have found myself after so many years' doubt on what I'm capable of. I am going to have my Master's degree by Spring 2003, and will continue on my ph.D study.

I bet a lot of classmates would be surprised to see how I turned out. Some of them might think I have returned to China. There have been so many challenges in my life so far and my new life began at River Valley. I still remember and will remember the encouragement from my classmates and from all the teachers, especially Mrs. Mally. I can be reached at zhaoed@yahoo.com.

Andy Drake: I'll be graduating in December from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with a double major in English and Political Science and a minor in Journalism. I've been writing for the school newspaper, and plan on finding an internship with a local paper following graduation.

This summer, I was fortunate enough to play baseball with Chad Curtis, a former major leaguer with the Angels, Tigers, Indians, Dodgers, Yankees, and Rangers. He's been living in the Grand Rapids area since retiring from the Rangers in the spring of 2002, and took up the offer to play on our summer team. Playing catch in the outfield, taking soft-toss, and just talking baseball with someone who played in a World Series was something I'll probably never be able to do again (at least, until next summer when we come back to defend our city championship.)

While doing the journalism internship this spring, I'll also be returning as head JV baseball coach at Creston High School. Last year, we had our struggles, but improved every game. Playing and coaching baseball are two things I love to do and hope to continue to do.

I know the girls will be disappointed, but I've been dating a girl named Lindsay for the last three years. She's from Quincy, Michigan, played softball and basketball at Calvin, and is a red-head just like me. She's a small-town girl, wants to teach English in high school, and makes me want to be a better person every day.

I'm excited about the reunion coming up. I've been in Michigan for five years now, but I still feel Viking pride whenever I check up on football scores or pull out the old baseball jerseys from my drawer. My email address is the same: andydrake05@hotmail.com.

Nicki Fosnaugh is currently attending the University of Toledo and working on a bachelor's degree in computer science and engineering.
