RV Board of Education Opening

Food Service Update

River Valley Local School District has been awarded funding to provide every student free breakfasts and free lunches each school day through the end of the 2020-21 school year. You will receive this benefit regardless if you filled out a free and reduced meal application or not.

Free meals served at school…

Breakfast will continue to be served as a grab and go and taken to the students’ homeroom or their 1stperiod class room.

Lunch options will continue to expand and will be served safely and socially distanced in our buildings.

Free meals for home on the 3 online learning days…

Students may choose to take meals home for the 3 days of online learning. At the elementary level meals will be sent home with students on Wednesdays or Thursdays unless parents opt out of this service. The “opt out” link will be shared with our families in the next day or 2 on social media. Middle School and High School students may pick up meals as they exit the buildings on Wednesdays or Thursdays at designated locations.

Free meals for students that signed up for all online classes…

Meals will be available to pick up on Thursdays from 4:30-6:30pm at the high school, Heritage Elementary and Liberty Elementary buildings. You may pick up from any 1 of these 3 locations. They may ask you for your student’s names and grade levels. Students do not need to be present when picking up meals. No sign up needed.

Will I need to fill out the free and reduced meal application?

Yes. The free meals (without an application) is only temporary and will run through December or until funding runs out. Free or reduced meals applications are available on our website or at

The information collected on this form is also used to determine discounts on school fees and other activity fees throughout the district. So you will want to continue completing this forms for those purposes.

A la Carte Items…

RVMS and RVHS will still charge for “extras” and a la carte items. The only items that are free are 1 reimbursable breakfast and 1 reimbursable lunch per day per student.

Hybrid Menu

To simplify our process we will follow the Hybrid lunch menu posted on our website.

Get Text Messages from RV

In addition to calling you with a voice message, we also have the ability to send text updates to the phone number we have on file for you as an RV parent. To receive the full text message you will need to "opt-in" by texting "YES" to 87569. This will give our system permission to send important updates about RV through our texting system.
Allowing text messages will not remove you from the voice message list. However many parents find receiving our messages by text to be a much faster and less intrusive way to access information from our district.

Click the image to view the reopening agreement for the Marion County Schools. This agreement is the general guidelines that the schools will be following for reopening.

The River Valley specific plan will be released as soon as it is completed. One of the changes that is being made is an adjustment to the school calendar. The proposed new calendar will have all students participating in a staggered start beginning August 25th. The calendar will be released after school board approval at the July board meeting.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to complete our plan.
