River Valley Coaching Certification
NEW for 2024-25 School Year: Coaches Tool Chest
Coaches Tool Chest is a one-stop shop (almost) for RV coaches to get most of their certification paperwork done. Completion of CTC costs just $20 annually for RV coaches. By using CTC, coaches would then just be responsible for in-person CPR/AED training, their FBI/BCI background checks, pupil activity permits, and their district/payroll paperwork.

Please visit this link for FREE OhioHealth training opportunities, such as Sports First Aid, and CPR/AED training.
In person CPR is REQUIRED to coach at River Valley. Sports First Aid is only required for coaches who are using the a la carte method of certification.
After clicking the link, navigate between classes using the top banner menu. You have to create an account, and then sign up for a virtual class for CPR Part 1. You will then have to make an in person appearance for a skills check for CPR. Sports First Aid is done entirely online.

1. Complete CTC class annually (see above)
2. HB 491 Form: Must be signed annually & turned in to AD (see bottom of this page for download)
3. AED/CPR Certification: See link above for an in-person/virtual schedule for this course. You need to turn in a copy of your card to the AD.
4. FBI/BCI Background Checks: Coaches need FBI and BCI background checks on file. The code needed for these checks are 3319.39.
5. ALSO: Must visit administration office IN PERSON, located at...

1. Note: As of October 2023, coaches will be required to upload a mental health/suicide prevention training course certificate as a part of their Pupil Activity Permit application. NFHS offers a free course that can be taken at this link. Again, you will have to upload your .pdf file under the "upload documents" section of the OH|ID website.
2. Fundamentals of Coaching - Lifetime Certificate - $65 must be paid by coach.
3. Lindsays Law Video - Must be viewed annually.
4. Lindsays Law Signature Form - Must be signed annually AFTER watching video, and turned into AD.
5. Concussion Training Options - Must be completed every three years, certificate turned into AD. (FREE)

HB 491 Form - Coaching Positions
All coaches must fill this form out, new hire or returning hire, during the 2019-20 school year. Going forward, all coaches will fill this form out as a part of their new hire paperwork packet.
