Curriculum and Instruction

The Curriculum and Instruction Department is responsible for the support of student learning and staff performance, improving engagement and academic achievement while maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment. Responsibilities also include development of K-12 courses of study, which are based on the Common Core standards set by the Ohio Department of Education, the selection and purchase of textbooks and other educational materials, professional development, instructional support, testing and assessments, student achievement, and the support/integration of district technology.

The district Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP) and other curriculum related agendas are also monitored and directed by the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. The district provides a full range of educational programs and services. These include elementary and secondary curriculum offerings at the general, college preparatory and vocational levels; a broad range of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities; adult and community education offerings; special education programs; and community recreation facilities.

Testing and Assessment Information

River Valley Local Schools will follow the state testing windows. Each building will set the dates of testing within the window of time mandated by ODE. Please check with your childs building for exact testing dates. It is important that all students participate in state testing and we appreciate your help in your child's participation on the dates and times outlined by the school.
